A CARE home in Great Sankey gave one of their residents a touching send off after she lost her life to Covid-19.

Ellen Letitia Beadles sadly passed away on April 16 - four days after her 85th birthday.

Known to everyone as Letty, she grew up in Liverpool before moving to Rainhill when she married her husband Ean.

Together they had two daughters, Susan and Margaret.

After her husband died in 2007, Letty lived with her daughter Margaret in Warrington but sadly developed Alzheimers and moved into Green Park Care Home in 2015.

Margaret said: "Mum was my best friend, she was a lovely lady.

"We did so much together before she went into care

"Her life’s celebration could not be as we wanted because of the current situation.

"I asked Green Park if she could return to say her final farewell and they lined the drive for her and let red and white balloons free as she was a Liverpudlian and Liverpool was always in her heart.

"I just think in these sad times, it was a beautiful tribute to a wonderful lady, the reception she got was amazing."

Margaret visited her mum every day and Letty enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren Scott, Sophie and Summer.

Staff at Green Park all clapped for Letty as she came to say her final goodbye and released the balloons in her honour.
