CHARITIES helping the community to tackle coronavirus can apply for a cash donation of £500 from Jack's in Middlewich.

The supermarket on Wheelock Street is inviting residents to nominate local charities or non-profit organisations who are supporting the Covid-19 relief efforts to receive a grant of £500.

From the nominations, four charities will be selected to receive £500 to help them to continue to fund their selfless work.

Jack’s Supports was initially launched to donate proceeds from the sale of carrier bags to local good causes voted for by customers.

However, in the current climate, essential workers across the UK have been vital in helping to fight against Covid-19, so the funds have been reallocated to ensure that these donations are going to those directly supporting the relief efforts.

Darren Preston, store manager at Jack’s Middlewich, said: “We launched Jack’s Supports to give something back to the local communities that have supported us since our launch.

"The money has been greatly beneficial to previous winners and now we want to give back to those who have selflessly given their time to help the Covid-19 relief.
