A BRIDE-TO-BE from Middlewich has hailed a £1,000 jackpot win as a sign from her mum, who died two years ago.

Rhiannon Harris, 23, scooped the prize in the St Luke's Hospice weekly lottery after taking on the numbers her mum Jackie used to play.

Rhiannon said: "I firmly believe it is a sign from my mum, given that I am getting married next year and my sister [Nickie] is due her first baby this month.

"The money we have won will allow me to treat my sister and newborn nephew to something special, and the remainder will be going straight into my wedding fund."

Jackie died aged 61 following a short battle with lung cancer, and had been cared for by the Winsford hospice.

She had played St Luke’s Lottery since the first draw back in 1994, so Rhiannon decided to pick up the baton in her mum's memory.

Rhiannon said: "My mum will never get to see her youngest daughter move into her first home, or attend her wedding, and she will never meet her first grandchild.

"Things that she waited her whole life to see, and only missed out on by less than two years' of precious time."

St Luke’s Lottery pays for the care of one in every five patients at the hospice – and Rhiannon is more than happy to keep supporting it.

She added: "I will continue to support St Luke’s Hospice, and the amazing work that they do to help people like my mum.

"And I feel very, very lucky to have won such an amazing prize which I never expected to win. Thank you St Luke’s, and thank you Mum."

The lottery costs £1 a week to play and gives the chance to win a weekly jackpot of £1,000 and a rollover jackpot of up to £5,000.
