SENIOR Labour MPS have rallied to post positive messages for a former Stretford MP who is being treated in hospital for coronavirus.
The Labour Party released a statement from the family on Monday night saying that veteran politician Tony Lloyd was being treated at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
It said: "He is is stable and responding to the treatment and dedicated care that he is receiving from the brilliant doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff at the hospital."
The current shadow Northern Ireland secretary, Mr Lloyd has also represented Stretford and Central Manchester and was Greater Manchester's police and crime commissioner.
New Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer posted on social media about the news He said: "Wishing Tony Lloyd a swift and full recovery from coronavirus.
"Our thoughts are with him, his family and friends at this difficult time."

Meanwhile, deputy leader of Labour Party Angela Rayner, said: "Sending all my best wishes to pal Tony Lloyd who is currently in hospital fighting #coronavirus We are wishing you a speedy recovery mate."
Mr Lloyd, 70, was MP for the former Stretford constituency between 1983 and 2012.
Sir Lloyd was elected MP for Rochdale in 2017 and held the seat for Labour at last year's general election.
