THIS year’s Prom Night for students at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School has been cancelled because of the coronavirus lockdown.
The annual celebration dinner is a hugely popular event with year 11 students, but the school said it had no choice but to cancel the evening.
A school spokesman said: “We are deeply sorry to have to cancel the year 11 celebration dinner, prom night.
“We know how much everyone looks forward to this event every year and the significance of the evening, as it marks the end of one part of your journey and the start of something new.
“It is an opportunity for us all to celebrate your achievements over the past five years and we understand how disappointed you will be.
“Clearly, with the coronavirus pandemic and the severe restrictions on social gatherings, we have no choice but to take this action.”

At the appropriate time all current year 11 students would be invited to attend.
