A WINSFORD couple has celebrated their golden wedding.

Mick Rimmer, 68, and Marie, 67, enjoyed their 50th wedding anniversary despite not being able to meet up with their three children and the rest of their family.

Daughter Katie, 36, said: "We had to cancel a family celebration but they still had a lovely day.

"All the children and grandchildren had booked a long Easter weekend away in the Lake District as a surprise but we had to cancel due to covid-19. We hope to re-book in the future.

"They spent the day together at home, had a nice meal and received lots of gifts and cards from family and friends left on their doorstep. We ordered flowers, cake and a hamper to be delivered so they were still spoilt."

The couple were born in Liverpool and and lived in a small flat above a cafe for their first year of marriage in Garston.

"They moved to Winsford as my dad got a job on the industrial estate at IPC on the machines," said Katie. "He worked his way up to production manager there before retiring."
