FIREFIGHTERS were called out to Crowton yesterday evening, Sunday, after receiving reports of a fire which had spread to nearby trees.

Two fire engines from Northwich Fire Station attended the blaze in a field off Kingsley Road at approximately 8.15pm.

On arrival, the crews discovered that the fire involved a large amount of hay and horse manure, which had subsequently spread to nearby trees.

Two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the flames and crews liaised with the landowners to use machinery to help turn over the hay and manure.

A thermal imaging camera was also used to check the temperature of the area.
