Councils across the region have given updates on the continued closure of schools amid the coronavirus crisis.

Schools will remain closed to most pupils until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But some schools in the region are set to stay open for the children of key workers and vulnerable children over the Easter Holidays.

That follows government advice for schools to stay partially open during the holidays “where possible”.

Schools in Wirral have been helping children to learn from home with a wide variety of resources.

Local authorities across the region gave their guidance on schooling during the coronavirus crisis.

A spokesperson for Wirral Council said: “Schools are open by arrangement for children of key workers and vulnerable pupils only.

“That will be the situation until the government changes its position.”

The local authority also suggested a popular online resource which helps children continue their learning away from school.

The spokesperson said: “Each school has a plan in place to support their students and parents at this time.

“There are also lots of online resources available for children of every school age, including some originating from the council and its staff and being shared on the ‘My Child Can’ Facebook page.”
