MOBBERLEY Rose Queen Festival has been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The popular community celebration was due to take place in June, with Tawni Davies set to be crowned as this year’s Rose Queen.

The organisers said: “It's with huge regret that we have to announce the postponement of this year's Rose Queen Festival.

“June might seem a long way off at the moment, and we can all pray that the world is looking a healthier place by then, but in reality there is so much preparation for the big day that we will not be able to carry out before then.

“At this stage we hope we will simply be postponing rather than cancelling, so please be ready to come and help us if we can make it happen later in the year.

“Our apologies go to everyone in the village who was looking forward to the festival, most of all our newly-elected Queen, Tawni. We promise you'll still get your big day.”

Tawni was chosen to be this year's Queen, with Anya Clayton and Francesca Thompson-Rossi as her Ladies-in-waiting.
