PARENTS and carers are being asked to the new rules Prime Minister Boris Johnson laid out in his address to the nation on Monday.

The plea comes from Amanda Harrison, the principal of Winsford Academy.

She said on the school’s website: “In the light of the speech to the nation by Boris Johnson last night (Monday) it is now essential that we enforce the rules he has set out for the country to keep your children and our staff as safe as we possibly can.

“Therefore we now need to ask again that you do not bring your child to school unless both parents/carers are key workers or in a single parent family, where that parent is a key worker.

“You must also have explored all other options for childcare, school must be a last resort.

In addition, you are reminded that your child should only be in school on the days you need them to be – if you work part time, your child should be at home when you are.

“These tighter measures are essential to keep the children, their families and our staff safe.

“We will be reducing the staff on site to the absolute minimum. Thank you for your cooperation and support. Stay safe, look after yourselves and your families.”
