VISITOR restrictions are in place at Arrowe Park Hospital from today amid concerns over Coronavirus.

Wirral University Teaching Hospital say the measures are in place to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors.

This will be reviewed regularly and changed as required.

Under the measures: Visitors must be immediate family members or carers, with only one visitor allowed per day for a maximum of two hours. Visitors will be permitted between 4pm and 7pm daily.

No children under 12 years will be permitted on any ward, unless their relatives are nearing the end of their life. In which case bespoke arrangements should be made with the nurse in charge.

For visiting arrangements to Children’s Ward, Neonatal Unit and Maternity, please contact the Women and Children’s Hospital directly. Wards HDU, 12 and 25 are closed to visitors. Visitors with any symptoms relating to COVID-19 Coronavirus, including a cough or temperature, must not visit the hospital.

If visitors have a general cold, including cough, runny nose; any symptoms relating to a stomach upset, including diarrhoea and/or vomiting, they must not come to the hospital.

Hazel Richards Chief Nurse said: “Our priority is the safety of our patients, our staff and visitors at this time.

"We are asking everyone to support these measures which we hope will limit any opportunity for infection being brought in to our hospitals.

"These restrictions will be reviewed regularly and we will announce through our website and social media if there are any changes".
