FOODBANKS across mid Cheshire are appealing for support following a drop in donations since the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.

Both Mid Cheshire Foodbank and Middlewich Foodbank are calling for support from any residents who are able to donate to one of the drop-off points in the area.

Nathan Pardoe, from Mid Cheshire Foodbank, said: “COVID-19 self-isolation and the loss of jobs will result in people having to choose between paying the bills and buying food.

“Foodbanks are all that stand between people in impossible situations going hungry or being fed.

“Mid Cheshire Foodbank needs the support of our community now more than ever.

“They are struggling to get supplies due to supermarket panic buying and I would like all residents who are able to support the foodbank to donate food. The donations help local people in crisis.”

A spokesman at Middlewich Foodbank added: “We are experiencing a big drop in donations. If you can donate anything please do.

“Our biggest shortages are tinned meat, long life milk, tinned tomatoes and toiletries.”

Foodbank donations can be made at:

  • Booths and Costa Coffee, in Knutsford
  • Abbeycroft Vets, Asda, Co-op Funeralcare, St Helen Witton Church (Saturdays 10am to 4pm), Tesco and Waitrose, in Northwich
  • F Hayes Funeralcare, in Barnton
  • Sainsbury’s, in Hartford
  • St Mary’s Church, in Weaverham (Saturdays 10am to 2pm)
  • All Your Appliances, Asda, Co-op Funeralcare and St Joseph’s Catholic Church (during mass), in Winsford
  • Jack’s and Morrisons, in Middlewich, or any Middlewich church
