HEALTH bosses at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre are trying to reduce visitor numbers amid concerns over Coronavirus.
The organisation wants patients attending appointments at its hospitals in Wirral and Aintree and clinics around the region to limit the number of friends or family members accompanying them to one.
A spokesperson told the Globe this afternoon: "We understand that family and friends attending appointments with patients is an essential support during cancer treatment.
"However, in the short term, we would kindly ask patients bring only one visitor with them for appointments or inpatients receive just one visitor at a time whilst on our wards.
"Unless you have been contacted to inform you otherwise, all patients should attend their appointments for treatment as normal.
"Telephone consultations are taking place where face-to-face appointments are not necessary.
"We kindly ask that anyone with symptoms of a fever or cough, or who have tested positive for coronavirus, do not visit our sites.
"All visitors are please reminded to use the hand sanitizer available on all wards and to wash your hands with soap and water frequently.
"The health and safety of our patients, visitors and staff is of the utmost priority.
"The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has put measures in place to ensure your safety, whilst also continuing to provide a safe and effective service to our patients.
"We thank you for your understanding."
