THE search is on to find unsung heroes who live in Winsford.

A celebration called Winsford Stars 2020 is being held to honour people who have made a big difference to the lives of others.

Do you know someone who has helped you, made a contribution to the community or achieved something really special?

Mayor Cllr Ailsa Gaskill-Jones is proud to announce that she will be holding her Winsford Stars evening on Friday, May 1 to recognise the achievements of local people.

The event replaces the former Winsford Oscars and will be included as part of the annual Winsford Town Mayor’s Ball for 2020.

Winsford Star awards recognise residents who have gone the extra mile, achieved something amazing or done something marvellous.
Local people are being asked to submit nominations and 10 winners will be chosen by an independent judging panel.
The mayor is inviting local companies or organisations to consider sponsoring an award.

In return for sponsorship, an organisation will be able to lend its name to an award.

On the awards evening itself, a representative of the sponsoring organisation will have the opportunity to present the award.

Cllr Gaskill-Jones said: "We want to recognise those in our town who are stars - to come together on one evening and salute the efforts or achievements that have brought credit to our town.

"Winsford is a great place to live and work and we want to use the evening to not only recognise our unsung heroes but to help raise the profile of the town and highlight the many opportunities that Winsford has to offer."

Proceeds from the evening will go to the mayor’s chosen charities, Cotswold House, Motherwell and Cheshire Young Carers.
