THE untold history of Whitegate’s Vale Royal Abbey looks set to be immortalised in film starring 'well known' Hollywood actors.

This follows the release of a long-awaited book, entitled ‘The Delamere Saga - The Untold Story of Vale Royal Abbey’, at a press conference held in Los Angeles.

The book is said to be one of the most exciting, informative and touching narratives of the Delamere Lords branch of the famous Cholmondeley family of Vale Royal Abbey.

Written by historian and researcher Geoffrey Hebdon, it covers the secret lives of the British aristocracy from the 16th to the 20th century.

And at the press conference, it was also announced that plans are underway to make a television mini-series of the narrative staring well known veteran Hollywood actors.

According to the publishers, Hebdon’s book focuses on the Cholmondeley family, who owned the Abbey throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.

In it, they are described in lavish and intimate detail as they adapted to maintain their status as a leading British family through three generations.

Beginning in the late 17th century, the first part of the story follows Thomas Cholmondeley, who purchased the title ‘Lord Delamere’ for £5,000 from the British crown in 1821.

Part II covers the 2nd Lord Delamere, Hugh Cholmondeley, who led a very sad and difficult life and experienced the deterioration of Vale Royal.

Part III reviews the life of Hugh Cholmondeley, Jnr. – the 3rd Lord Delamere who abandoned Vale Royal Abbey and relocated to East Africa.
