A HAIR salon in Christchurch has opted to stop stocking 'gossip' magazines after the death of Caroline Flack.

La Belle Hair and Beauty Salon in Somerford Road has chosen to take a stance against "unfair press and negative news".

Former Love Island host Ms Flack was found dead at her home in north-east London, weeks before she was due to stand trial for assaulting her boyfriend.

Manager of La Belle Harley Mountjoy said: “A couple of girls in the salon were affected by what happened to Caroline Flack and how the gossip magazines treated her in the lead up to her death so we wanted to make a small stand against them.

“We have had some gossip magazines in and they have all pretty much hung her out to dry.

“It is not something massive, but we hope that it can help promote more positive news rather than all this negativity.”

The salon has instead chosen to supply what it calls "positive" magazines providing content on personal growth, decor, food, fashion, hair inspiration, health and beauty and wellbeing.

Harley said she and the rest of the staff want everyone who comes through their doors to be "surrounded with positivity".

She added: “In the salon, we have always made sure that our staff and customers are well and happy.

“Being happy and staying positive is an ethos we all share. We just want to make sure that everyone who comes into the salon has a positive time. It is all about keeping a positive outlook on things for everyone.”
