ROMANCE could blossom at a fun and flirty night out.

A charity event with a difference is being held in Middlewich to give people a chance to find someone special.

Abi Halsall, 28, from Middlewich, came up with the idea to run a match making evening after carrying out some research.

“Lots of cities have gatherings for people who do not want to use online dating or may have tried it and found it is not for them,” said Abi, who works in Northwich.  “Middlewich being quite a small place doesn’t have any.

“I’m hoping to make it as fun as possible. A lot of people have already registered and bought tickets in advance."

The single and social evening is being held at The Kinderton on Friday, April 3, from 7pm to 10pm.

The fundraiser is in aid of The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), the leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK and the cause of 18 deaths every day.

The charity runs a free and confidential helpline and webchat for anyone who needs to talk about life's problems.

Abigail, a quality analyst at Barclays on Gadbrook Park in Rudheath, said: “We do a lot of charity work and I wanted to support a charity that wasn’t as well known. Any proceeds I make on the night Barclays will support by matching it pound for pound.”

Businesses have donated raffle prizes to boost funds.

"We have got great prizes worth more than £100 which would make ideal dates," said Abi. "Restaurant meals, crazy golf, escape rooms, spa days."

A chance to mix and mingle will start the evening followed by speed dating.

"We are asking people to tell us their name, age and what age category they are looking to meet," said Abi. "We have received a big range in age from 25 to 60.

"It should be a fun night out with like-minded people. If some find speed dating a bit daunting they can just come along and socialise. It's all in aid of charity."

Tickets are £5 in advance and £6 on the door.
