CHIPPENHAM Museum’s staff, volunteers and Friends group are celebrating being awarded Arts Council England accreditation.
Cllr Teresa Hutton, chairman of Chippenham Town Council’s amenities, culture and leisure committee, joined them to celebrate their success.
Cllr Hutton said: “We’re absolutely delighted. The accreditation is a credit to all the people who work behind the scenes, including our volunteers and friends who give their enthusiasm and time to the museum.”
The Accreditation Scheme is the UK industry standard for museums and galleries which encourages museums to do the right things to help people access and engage with collections and protect them for future generations.
Chippenham Museum, a Chippenham Town Council facility, is free to visit and open 10am to 4pm every day except Sunday, including Bank Holidays.
With two floors of galleries and level access throughout, the museum has a varied exhibition and events programme.
The museum’s current exhibition about the town’s iconic Goldiggers venue is open until Saturday, April 25.
This will be followed by a season of ARTSPACE@Chippenham Museum exhibitions dedicated to celebrating local artists.
