MIDDLEWICH residents are being invited to join a 'community conversation' to help make the town an even better place to live and work in.

The free event is being held at Canal Conference Centre, 34-36 Brooks Lane, Middlewich from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday, February 27.

The conversations are facilitated by ROC (Redeeming Our Communities) charity in partnership with Cheshire Constabulary as well as Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Cheshire East Council and local faith groups and community organisations.

David Keane, Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, said: “Working with communities is at the heart of my role and I’m pleased to lend my support to the ROC events.

“They are providing fantastic opportunities for people across Cheshire to come together to discuss how to make their local area a better place to live.

“We know there are so many community groups and organisations in each area that have a clear passion and dedication to keeping their community safe and ROC brings everyone together to encourage collaboration.

“This joint working is crucial in building resilience and preventing crime and anti-social behaviour.”

Anyone who lives or works in the town is invited to attend, with people from all walks of life wanted at the events, which are currently taking place across Cheshire, for free.

Kelly Johnston, beat management inspector, said: “This event is an ideal opportunity for everyone in Middlewich who cares about where they live to get together under one roof and formulate plans to make their town a safer and nicer place to live.

"The aim is to identify the issues that are most important to the people of Middlewich and agree on action plans and goals that can be achieved by everyone working together as a united community.”

ROC is a national community engagement charity that conducts Community Conversation events across the UK. ROC empowers 'people of goodwill working together for safer, stronger communities'.

The events identify gaps in provision and what emergency services, local authority members, statutory agencies, key community individuals, community groups and local faith groups in attendance can offer to bridge those gaps.

Kelly added: “This is an opportunity for the people of Middlewich to meet up and talk about what’s good in the town, what they would like to see change and how they can work together with our partners to make a real difference in their community.

“Middlewich has a thriving community, with a number of well-established projects, groups and volunteers already. These Community Conversations aim to lead to increased support for these as well as identify new ideas and initiatives agreed upon and established by the residents of Middlewich themselves.”

Anyone planning to attend is urged to register in advance online at roc.uk.com/crewe or by calling 0161 393 4511.
