POET Simon Armitage will be featuring in a poetry festival being staged in Bolton
As part of Bolton School’s arts and science enrichment lectures for the public, the poet will give a reading and a group of talented writers from the school will also share their work at the annual celebration of creative writing.
Simon Armitage is the UK Poet Laureate and elected Oxford Professor of Poetry 2015-2019.
His numerous accolades include the 2018 Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry and an Ivor Novello Award for song-writing in the BAFTA-winning film, Feltham Sings. His poetry has been part of GCSE and A -level studies in this country for nearly two decades.
This spring sees publication of his forthcoming book Magnetic Field, which gathers together his poems on Marsden, the Yorkshire village where he grew up and began life as a writer
The evening starts at 6.45pm on Monday, March 2
The free event is open to everyone and will take place in the Bolton School girls’ division Great Hall.
Parking will be available and signposted on the night.
