ALDI is consulting on plans to relocate its Winsford store.

The discount food retailer is preparing plans to vacate its existing site in Dene Drive and move up the road to a newbuild at the corner of High Street.

The existing store, further south in Dene Drive, is ‘no longer fit for purpose’ and ‘does not meet the high standards that Aldi customers expect’.

The proposals for a new store would bring an attractive, modern food store with 132 customer car parking spaces – including disabled, parent-and-child, and electric vehicle spots.

Plans are on display at the store, with shoppers invited to have their say during a public consultation running throughout February.

A spokesman said: “We are excited to announce our plans to relocate in Winsford and continue our long-term investment in the town. The proposal would provide local residents with a high-quality, modern food store with enhanced facilities including wider aisles, a larger ‘Food-to-Go’ section and more storage for meat and dairy products.

“Additionally, the plans would protect all existing Aldi jobs in Winsford and create around 10 new employment opportunities, paid at an industry-leading rate.

“We want to hear from local people before we submit a planning application in March 2020, and encourage residents to view our plans inside the current Dene Drive store.”
