EIGHTIES stars Toyah and China Crisis will headline the Saturday night party at this year's Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival.

Middlewich Town Council has announced Brit-award nominee Toyah Willcox and chart regulars China Crisis as Saturday night headliners for the festival's 30th anniversary.

Marking a landmark year, the festival is running for five days from Wednesday, June 17 through to Sunday, June 21.

This year’s ticketed Saturday night concert is an 80s party night, also including local electronica tribute band Electro 80s.

Winsford Guardian:

Punk princess Toyah will be delivering a lively and energetic concert with her full live band, while pop/rock band China Crisis are still selling out shows today throughout the UK as well as in the USA, Europe and Asia.

Kicking off the party in style, Electro 80s will put on an 80s disco complete with light display.

The town council's warm-up event will preview the display on Friday, February 28 at Victoria Hall, with tickets available at middlewichfabfestival.co.uk/fab-tickets

Event organisers are working hard to make sure this year is the best yet to celebrate three decades of community festivals.

Following feedback from visitors in previous years, a Saturday night ticket charge has been introduced to secure the future of the festival.

Cllr Jonathan Parry said: “Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival wants to deliver the best festival for the people of Middlewich.

Winsford Guardian:

"To achieve this, we need to attract the best possible artists. Last year resulted in a loss due to fact the income didn’t cover the costs.

“This year we aim to deliver a bigger and better festival with great acts. This means we must start charging for the Saturday night concert.

“We cannot continue running at a loss as it jeopardises the future of the festival.

"By implementing a very fair and nominal charge for the Saturday, it secures the future of Folk and Boat and allows us to give you a very enjoyable weekend.

"Sunday remains free of charge, as does Saturday daytime from 11am through to 4pm.”

Early bird tickets for the Saturday night concert are now for sale at middlewichfabfestival.co.uk/fab-tickets

Residents' tickets are back by popular demand and will be released later this week.

Details of this year’s Friday night headline artists are soon to follow.
