FRIENDS of Winsford Town Park are celebrating after their Winsford 2020 calendar became a bestseller.

Images of the town captured by local photographers have been sent all over the world.

John Malam, chairman of the Friends, said: “We sold 767 copies and the calendar raised a very respectable £2,903 for Winsford Town Park.

“We’ll be putting the money to good use in the park over the coming months and we’ll be looking carefully at what the Friends will be able to fund.

"We’re very mindful that the park is for the whole community to enjoy and and we will be keeping that in mind.”

The Friends challenged photographers to take imaginative pictures of the town's hidden gems in a competition.

More than 250 photographs were submitted.

Shots taken by local photographers Colleen Ashley, Alan Bailey, Chris Brennan, Terry Hamlett, Lisa Lacking, Donna Maria Long and Paul Moses were chosen by a panel of judges.

Businesses and organisations throughout the town provided sponsorship.

The calendar was deigned by the Neuromuscular Centre's Design and Print Team.

John added: “We had some calendars left over which we’ve given to Mid-Cheshire Foodbank, Winsford care homes and day centres and the Youth Centre. It means more people in the community get to enjoy it.

“Given the success of the calendar, it goes without saying that we’ll be doing it again this year, with the Winsford 2021 calendar out in time for Christmas.”
