WARRINGTON Wolves fans are planning to commandeer a Spanish pub again this summer and party into the early hours in aid of charity.

A 'Primrose and Blue Takeover' of the Queen Vic in Lloret de Mar is to coincide with The Wire's Super League Round 23 fixture against Catalans Dragons.

Ethan Scott, a lead organiser, says the aim is to raise even more money than last year for two worthy causes.

"We really want to hit that £5,000 target this year and engage the fans once again following the success from last year," said Ethan, 21, who has been a Wire fan for as long as he can remember.

"We hope people can get on board, support us and make it a lot better than last year.

"This year, we have decided to split the funds between the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation and, following the sad news of former Leeds Rhinos player Rob Burrow’s diagnosis, we have also selected the Motor Neurone Disease Association."

More than 600 fans turned the Queen Vic into a Wire home from home on a balmy summer's evening on the Costa Brava last August and had a whole load of fun raising more than £2,700, before making the trip by coach into France the following day to watch Steve Price's side in Perpignan.

It was a memorable night for everybody involved.

"My favourite memory is how everyone came together, the support we had, the night itself full of singing, dancing and drinking and all for charity which was amazing," said Ethan, a sales executive at DA Languages in Stretford.

"It's important to keep supporting the fantastic Foundation in what they do, supporting our community. They do their bit so why can't we!

"And we have also selected the Motor Neurone Disease Association this year to continue the work in finding a cure for such a horrible disease."

The date for this year's event is Friday, July 31, with the fun commencing from 7.30pm.

"If you could help us or support us in any way at all to achieve our target for the Foundation and MND, please do get in touch! Raffle prizes, contributions, support would be greatly appreciated," said Ethan.

The Wire's clash with Catalans at Stade Gilbert Brutus on Saturday, August 1, will be the second visit to Perpignan for Steve Price's side this year.

They will also head to Perpignan on Saturday, June 13, in round 17.
