ENGINEERS have been out to fix a fault Pay and Display machine at Birchley Street car park on the second day since the parking changes.

Yesterday, Tuesday, January 21 2020, changes were made to the paying system at Birchley Street car park making it a Pay and Display, with four machines installed.

However this morning, drivers were left queuing at one machine after it was faulty on its second day of operation.

A council spokesperson said: “Unfortunately there is a fault with one of the four new Pay & Display machines on Birchley Street car park – located by the steps up to Birchley Street.

"Engineers are currently on site trying to resolve the issue, while the three other machines are in good working order.

“We have an officer stationed on site to help customers, and there is a telephone helpline on 01744 733251 for any other problems or queries.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank car park users for their patience while we resolve the issue.

"As a reminder for drivers who don’t carry cash or change, cashless payments are available via Pay by Phone or the APCOA Connect app.”
