THE Piccolino restaurant in Alderley Edge has welcomed guests back following repair work in the wake of a fire.

The restaurant reopened on Friday a week on from a fire which started in a kitchen extraction system and spread into the restaurant’s roof void.

The restaurant was evacuated, no-one was injured, and fire crews quickly put out the fire.

The business was closed for a week for repairs, and reopened with an intimate event for loyal guests.

The reception, which was attended by more than 300 guests, consisted of an evening of drinks and canapes as Piccolino celebrated a return to business as usual.

General manager Giuseppe Pinto said: "We couldn't be more pleased to re-open the doors to Piccolino.

"We've been blown away by the messages of support received, and were delighted to have the opportunity to raise a glass to our return with so many loyal guests.

"We've always known we have something special here in Alderley Edge, but this evening really highlighted that.

"Thank you to everyone who joined us in making the event such a memorable occasion, we're looking forward to a fantastic year ahead."
