MOTORCYCLISTS have pledged to honour a Winsford biker on his final ride out.

The funeral of John Edwards, 54, is being held on Saturday, January 25 at Vale Royal Crematorium in Northwich.

His son Josh, 28, said: "My dad always had a motorbike, since he was 17. We're going to give him a motorbike escort from his house on East Dudley Street at 11am to the crematorium.

"If you have a motorbike or know someone that does please can you ask them to be there to honour a fellow biker on his final ride out so we can give him the send off he deserves.

"I've got a bike so I'll be there too on mine."

John was planning to get married to his fiance Carrie Duxbury.

"His fiancée has three kids and he was close to them," said Josh. "He was going to get married in the summer."

John was born in Sandbach and lived in Winsford all his life.

"He knew loads of people," said Josh. "He was a tree surgeon years ago and was a postman until he was medically retired last year. He used to go to the gym a lot and was passionate about weightlifting.

"He had a big heart and loved his animals and nature.

"We've had a really big response from some motorbike groups and biker friends. He's going to love his final ride out."

Friends and bikers have paid tribute on social media.

Chenine Woods said: "He was the best postman I ever had, always smiling in his shorts, RIP John."

Joan Jeffs added: "So sorry for your loss. He was such a good friend big hugs to you all."

Mike Tynan said: "I'll join in for him. Sorry for your loss."

Cliff Soames added: "Sorry to hear of your loss. I'm not a biker but will stand on Wharton Rd to see him on his last journey with his bike mates with him. Come on Winsford, get on Wharton Rd and give him a good send off."
