A RETIRED carpenter and builder died from a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos during his working life, an inquest heard.
Colin Arthur Helliker, 69, who was born in Dorset, died at his home in Tarrant Keyneston, Blandford Forum, on December 22, 2019.
An inquest into his death was opened by senior coroner for Dorset Rachael Griffin on Monday, January 13.
Coroner's officer Ken McEwan said Mr Helliker had been diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma in May 2019.
During his working life as a carpenter and builder he came into contact with asbestos, the inquest heard.
A report by Dr Jonathan Evans, of the Blandford Group Practice, provided a provisional cause of death as malignant mesothelioma.
Mrs Griffin adjourned the inquest until January 28.
