Requirements in legislation is also said to be a factor.

The additional kennel space may be occupied by individual dogs or shared by dogs from the same family.

The exterior of this building will be clad in green tin to match the appearance of the rest of the existing site.

A design and access statement submitted as part of the application states: “The approval of this application is essential in order for the business to continue as it exists and to be in line with current legislation.

“The applicants are experienced in the field of animal care with a well-established business which employs six full time equivalent staff and eight further part time staff.

“The scale of the building is in keeping with the size of the site. The business turnover will not increase as a result of this application.”

Work on the extension must begin within three years.
