THIS year will have to go some way to beat 2019 for Knutsford Tennis Club.

Exceptional junior achievements, completion of a court refurbishment programme, coach Mark Airey celebrating 10 years with the club and recognition by Cheshire LTA as a Club of The Year finalist ensured 2019 will long liv in the memory of all involved.

The junior teams had a fantastic year, with the under 13s mixed team, under 14s and under 15s boys' teams all finishing in first place in their respective leagues.

Knutsford's under 14s went on to become Cheshire champions.

The under 10s team came second in their league, while the under 18s placed third.

The results were considered a fitting conclusion to coach Mark Airey’s 10th year at Knutsford Tennis Club and so the presentation evening, attended by Knutsford Mayor Cllr Andrew Malloy, was extra special.

It was a night capped by the Knutsford Tennis Club overall junior of the year prize going to Caelan Atkins.

Not to be outdone the senior men's first team collected their plaque for coming top of Division Five in the Slazenger North East Cheshire League.

The club recently completed refurbishment of courts six and seven, so all seven courts now have state-of-the-art playing surfaces and floodlights, with much fundraising and a grant from Knutsford Town Council making it possible.

And to have been selected as one of the finalists in Cheshire LTA's Club of The Year Award it marks out Knutsford Tennis Club as one of the top four clubs in the county.
