HEAVY traffic is building around Northwich town centre after a two-car crash on Chesterway this afternoon, Wednesday.

The accident involving a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a silver BMW happened at the traffic light junction with Venables Road, near to the entrance to Lidl.

Police and paramedics are in attendance.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “Police were informed of a two-car crash on Chesterway at 10.58am.

“The crash involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a silver BMW.

“Paramedics checked over one of the drivers, a woman, but she was discharged at the scene.

“No injuries have been reported.”

Eyewitnesses at the scene have reported three police cars in attendance, and that one of the cars has lost a wheel.

The crash is having a knock-on effect on roads across the town centre as a result.

Traffic is especially busy Watling Street, Winnington Lane, Dane Street and Castle Street.
