CHESHIRE Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that Friday’s fire at Northwich Outdoor Market was ‘probably’ caused by an electrical fault.
This follows the completion of an investigation into how the blaze which gutted the building started.
The fire service also confirmed that the fire was not stared deliberately.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “An investigation into the cause of the large fire at Northwich Outdoor Market on Friday has now been completed.
“The fire was not started deliberately.
“The probable cause was an electrical fault inside the building.”
The fire was reported around 3am, and at its height, eight fire crews from across the county were at the scene.
Parts of the market building were demolished to allow firefighters access to extinguish hotspots, and crews were in attendance for more than 30 hours.
