FIONA Bruce has retained her Congleton seat for the Conservatives, with a huge majority of more than 18,000.

In what has turned out to be a landslide win for the Tory party and Boris Johnson, Middlewich and the rst of the Congleton constituency played its part by electing Ms Bruce for the fourth time.

In the early hours of this morning, Ms Bruce was announced as the MP for Congleton, with a majority of 18,561 over Labour's Jo Dale.

The full result is: Fiona Bruce (Conservative) 33,747; Jo Dale (Labour) 15,186; Paul Duffy (Lib Dem) 6,026; Richard McCarthy (Green) 1,616; Jane Smith (Animal Welfare Party) 658.

In a victory speech at the Crewe Lifestyle Centre, where the result was announced, Ms Bruce said she didn't expect the majority she had got.

Ms Bruce said: "I’m delighted. I love this area and it’s a privilege to serve it and in particular the town of Middlewich. I’ve been honoured to be the member of Parliament for Middlewich for 10 years and to be in a position to fight for improvements to the town.

"I wasn’t expecting the majority that I got. I’m delighted and I thank people for that."
