POLICE have launched an investigation after gun shots were fired at a takeaway in Prenton.
Emergency services were called at around 8.25pm today (Thursday, December 12) following reports of shots being fired from a car at a customer at a takeaway on Townfield Close.
Patrols attended and carried out a search of the area.
A window of the takeaway sustained damage when the shots were fired.
House-to-house enquiries are underway and officers will be looking at CCTV from the area in a bid to identify the offenders.
Chief Inspector George Phillips, said: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation but I can confirm that officers remain in the area while we try to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.
"There have been no reports of any injuries.
"This happened in a residential area and we cannot let people think this is acceptable and that they can get away with this.
"We need help from the local community to identify those responsible so we can take the offenders off the streets and put them before the courts.
“I would appeal to anyone who heard or saw any suspicious behaviour, or maybe saw a light coloured car in the area to please get in touch.
"Gun crime is unacceptable in our communities and any information, no matter how small, may assist us in identifying those responsible."
