TEN candidates will battle two coveted seats in St Helens North and St Helens South and Whiston in today's general election.

In St Helens North, Labour’s Conor McGinn is hoping to retain the seat.

He will be contesting it against Tory Joel Charles, Liberal Democrat Pat Moloney, the Brexit Party’s Malcolm Webster and the Green Party's David Van der Burg.

In St Helens South and Whiston, Labour's Marie Rimmer is also hoping to keep her seat.

She is up against Daniel Oxley with the Brexit Party, Tory Richard Short, former council leader Brian Spencer standing with the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party's Kai Taylor
