HUNDREDS of toys, games and a phenomenal half a tonne of food have been donated to a Christmas appeal run by Winsford Diamonds Football Club.

Young players collect gifts and donations every year for the Salvation Army and Mid Cheshire Foodbank.

Toys will be distributed to families who would otherwise go without this Christmas and food will be given to families in crisis.

Virginia Daly, from Winsford Diamonds Football Club said: "Together we’ve made a massive difference to other people’s Christmas this year. It has been an absolutely monumental effort from everyone involved.

"A representative of Mid Cheshire Foodbank confirmed the total weight of the food collected was 570kg which is around half a tonne, which is absolutely amazing."
