A BIG thank you has been paid to the generous Winsford community for donating a phenomenal £45,010 to this year's Poppy Appeal.
Veterans are overwhelmed by the outstanding response the town has achieved for the second year running.
This year's figure is only £7.50 less than the 2018 record.
Keith Stubbs, from the Winsford branch of the Royal British Legion, said: "The figure of £45,010.50 is a magnificent result considering the current economic and political uncertainty.
"The branch extends grateful thanks to members, supporters and the local cadets who volunteered their time and efforts for the collections.
Hundreds turned out to pay tribute to Winsford war heroes at the annual Remembrance Sunday parade and service
"Also thanks to Winsford Supermarkets for allowing collections within their stores and to the local shops and organisations who accepted collection boxes on their premises.

"The main tribute must once again go to the wonderful general public who contributed so generously. Thank you all."
The money will go towards the organisation's charitable work.
