SEVERE gales are set to sweep across Wirral this weekend.
The Met Office have issued a severe weather warning for gales from 3pm on Sunday, December 8 to 9am on Monday, December 9.
Forecasters say that there could be short term power loss in some areas while coastal areas such as West Kirby and New Brighton will experience spray and large waves.
It is also possible that there could be damage to temporary structures.
Commuters could be affected by delays to road, rail, air and bus services with some journeys taking longer.
In a statement, The Met Office said: "A deep area of low pressure is expected to cross the UK from the west on Sunday and Monday bringing very strong winds to parts of the west.
"Winds are expected to gust to 50mph to 60mph inland, and perhaps 70mph around some coasts.
"Large coastal waves are also expected."
