MARBURY Park will host a family friendly 5k run in the new year in aid of a local children’s cancer charity.

The Frosty 5k will sport a winter theme throughout, including a snow-covered start line, sea of waving snowmen and a giant igloo of icicles.

People of all ages are invited to head down and take part when the run is staged on Saturday, January 18.

And all money raised from the event will go to Northwich-based children’s cancer charity The Joshua Tree, who support affected families from across the region.

“We are so excited to be the first to host the Frosty 5k in the North,” said the charity’s fundraising and events co-ordinator Juliet Brazendale.

“If ever there was an event to get fit for the new year, this has got to be it.

“It is a winter fun run for the whole family, but you can walk, run, hop and dance around the course.

“With that in mind, we will be giving runners the option of completing one or two laps of a 2.5km track so it is not too gruelling for little legs.”

Set in the idyllic Marbury Park, runners will be transported into a magical winter wonderland by running past a cosy log cabin, a corridor of waving snowmen, an icy fog zone and an Arctic igloo lit up by icicles.

All are welcome to come along and enjoy the festive fun while helping to raise funds for families affected by childhood cancers.
