VICTORIA Club car park has been revealed as the most profitable pay car park in Northwich town centre over the past five months.

This comes following a Freedom of Information request by the Guardian which found that between the ends of May and October, the six pay car parks generated £83,452 in payments and fines.

Cheshire West and Chester Council announced that charges would be introduced at Verdin, Memorial Court, Cumberland, Victoria Club, Market and Watermans car parks in November 2018.

During this five-month period, Victoria Club has collected £20,048 in parking charges and an additional £7,628 in fines from motorists overstaying their welcome.

This figure eclipses that of Market car park on Watling Street, which generated a total of £14,031.

Memorial Court, Watermans and Cumberland car parks all brought in totals of between £10,000 and £11,500, while Verdin car park collected £4,039.

Statistics also show that motorists are most likely to be fined at either Victoria Club or Market car park, despite the latter being used by over three and a half times less vehicles.

Victoria Club, which was used by 59,290 cars that between the ends of May and October, generated £7,628 from 419 fines.

Market car park was used a much smaller 16,138 times, but still led to 417 fines being issued and raised £8,770 for the council.

In comparison, this is more than the town centre’s four other pay car parks combined, which collected £5,810 from 291 fines.
