ELECTION candidates in Eddisbury will be invited to consider health and social care issues at a debate in Winsford next week.

Crewe and District’s Parkinson’s community is organising a debate from 10.30am to 12 noon on Tuesday, December 3 at The Dingle Centre on High Street.

Eddisbury candidates include Edward Timpson (Conservative), Terry Savage (Labour) Louise Jewkes (Green), Antoinette Sandbach (Liberal Democrat) and Andrea Allen (UKIP).

The number of people living with Parkinson's in the UK is around 145,000 including 247 people living in the constituency and this is set to double by 2065.

Alison Lofas, local campaigns officer at Parkinson’s UK, said: “Like all members of the community, people with Parkinson’s are affected on a daily basis by the decisions made by their local representatives. As such it's really important they are well informed about the issues that will directly affect them when they go to vote on December 12.”

The event is being hosted by Carole Buckingham of the Crewe and District local group and is working to enable members of the local Parkinson’s community to directly ask candidates standing in their area questions about their policies and what action they will be taking to better support the community should they be elected.

Members of the Parkinson’s community will be covering such topics as:

● Experiences of accessing and claiming disability benefits.

● The quality of health and care services for people living with Parkinson’s, including being able to get the right treatment and therapies at the right time.

● Scrapping prescription charges for people with Parkinson’s in England.

● The charity’s ongoing campaign, ‘Get it on Time’ which is calling on mandatory training on Parkinson’s for all hospital staff.
