A THOROUGHLY brilliant night of entertainment.

That’s how I’d describe Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which exploded on to the Theatre Royal stage with a dazzling kaleidoscope of song and dance.

This is the latest Bill Kenwright production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sparkling family musical to be staged at the Corporation Street venue.

Retelling the Biblical story of Jospeh, his 11 brothers and the coat of many colours, the show features hits including Go, Go Joseph, Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door to Me.

Additional choreography devised by creative director Gary Lloyd has given the production a refresh and, I have to say, it’s the best version I’ve witnessed.

The cast sparkled and their performances of the songs were mighty and emotional.

On the night of our visit Tom Bainbridge (who normally plays the role of Levi – one of Joseph’s brothers) took on the lead role in place of Union J’s Jaymi Hensley.

He was sensational and was among the brilliant individual performances.

The 11 brothers sang beautifully in harmony and the audience lapped it up.

Every aspect of the show was put together with immense detail – so take a bow production team.

I’d thoroughly recommend this for families, particularly if you’re looking to give young ones a taste of a West End spectacular.

What a superb show.
