RESIDENTS of Aston by Budworth are being asked to support a funding bid to replace play equipment in the village.

The current play area on Hield Grove is dilapidated, so Cllr Kate Parkinson has teamed up with local resident Malcolm Benson to help replace the existing equipment and give outdoor space a much-needed facelift.

Mr Benson, of Hield Grove, said: “It’s been very run down for quite some time and left to get into a state of disrepair – there’s no proper play equipment like you’d see in other play areas.

Northwich Guardian:

“We’d like to add a slide, traditional seesaw, a triple swings, and some seating.”

Cllr Parkinson added: “Outdoors play equipment is so important for children and families.

“It encourages physical activity, a love of the outdoors and quality family and friends time, that is so important to a child’s development and family time.”

With support from Cheshire East Council and ANSA Environmental Service, the pair are hoping to raise £10,000 to facilitate the project and Mr Benson has already donated £1,000 of his own money to get the ball rolling.

Northwich Guardian:

Cllr Parkinson added: “Mr Benson has been trying for four years to get this project off the ground and has been very generous in donating his own money towards the project which will enable us to apply for funding.

“What we really need now is the support of the local community to help with our grant application.

“We are asking residents to write in with letters of support for the project, which can help secure the necessary funding.”
