TODDLERS and staff at a Winsford nursery wore Pudsey tops and spotty clothes to support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Sunrise Nursery raised more than £600 for the BBC Children in Need appeal on Friday after organising a tombola, cake stall and prize raffle.

Staff and parents provided items for a tombola and businesses donated a host of raffle prizes including play passes for Tots Tower, a voucher for Guys and Dolls, a meal voucher for Wharton Park Carvery, PT sessions at DW Gym, a voucher for The Hayhurst Arms.

Nursery manager Claire Ryder said: "We had so many donations from our families and local businesses I would like to thank all the team for their help in planning and organising the event.

"It was fantastic for us to raise such a huge sum for children in need.

"It's a fantastic feeling to know we're helping to raise money for disadvantaged and young people across the UK."

The nursery has raised funds for this charity in the past and wanted to support it again. Money is still coming in so the nursery has not yet announced a final figure.

BBC Children in Need works throughout the year to ensure that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood, and the chance to reach their full potential.

It relies on the energy and commitment of thousands of fundraisers and supporters across the UK, who donate their time and money to put on events supporting the Appeal.
