SANDIWAY Library will not reopen this month as scheduled and repair work is expected to last until February.

The library on Mere Lane closed in September and has since undergone construction work involving complex internal and external piling.

Once this is complete, the entire building will be re-carpeted, ceiling lights will be replaced and internal redecoration will be completed.

Library equipment will then be restocked to transform it back into use for its many customers.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers while this building work continues,” said Cheshire West and Chester Council’s director of place operations, Maria Byrne.

“Many customers will be disappointed that the library is not able to reopen this month as planned.

“Our contractors assure us they are pushing the project along as quickly as possible, despite challenging construction issues.

“During the continued temporary closure, loans have been extended and won’t be due back.

“Temporary arrangements at nearby locations will continue and our usual 24/7 online services are also available.”

During the library’s closure, opening hours at Barnton and Weaverham Libraries have been extended and will continue to so.

Barnton Library will be open between 9.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm on Tuesdays, as will Weaverham Library on Thursdays.

In addition, the mobile library will continue to stop at Cuddington and Sandiway Village Hall between 9.30am and 12.30pm each Saturday until the library reopens.

The opening hours of all Cheshire West libraries are available online at cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/libraries.
