FREE bus shelters are being offered to local community groups by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The five shelters are currently located at the former Chester Bus Exchange on Princess Street, but the site will soon become a new public square as part of the Chester Northgate development.

And to put them to good use, the council would like to hear from any community group or organisation in the Cheshire West area that may benefit from a free shelter.

Lisa Harris, director of place strategy for CWAC, said: “We have had quite a few requests for the old bus shelters, so the fairest option is to consider all requests together.

“We are eager to prepare the site for the start of construction, therefore we are keen to hear from groups by December 15 so that we can find new uses for them.”

Winsford Guardian:

There will be no charge to organisations for the shelters as long as they have a suitable space with appropriate hard standing.

Successful requests will be the projects who offer the maximum benefit to their local community in the Cheshire West and Chester area.

The shelters will be transported free of charge, but installation is the responsibility of the organisation receiving them.

Local community groups are invited to complete an expression of interest form via smartsurvey.co.uk/s/BusShelters before the closing date of December 15.
