TOWN centre premises in Knutsford are earmarked for a podiatry clinic.

Jeffrey Roberts is seeking planning approval to change the use of premises last occupied by the Deli Boys Delicatessen from a food outlet to a clinic.

The two-storey, semi-detached premises are at 21a Tatton Street, and have been vacant since the middle of August.

A report accompanying the planning application by JAR Architecture said: “Our proposals represent no visual changes externally or internally; therefore there will be no addition or reduction to the existing amount of floor space.

“The site lies in a part of the Conservation Area which has seen considerable change over the past years.

“Tatton Street buildings have a mixture of designs, materials and uses including, residential, offices, retail, food outlets, a public house, private club, public car parks and open amenity spaces.

“As there are no alterations to be carried to the external facades other than redecoration to match the existing, it is considered that the proposals will have no or limited impact on the street scene and does not generally detract from the appearance of the Knutsford Conservation Area.

“We believe our proposals are fully consistent with our aspirations for the development to revitalise this empty building, the site and the existing buildings adjacent to the site, sustaining the future of the local community.

“The proposal would achieve a high standard of design, which would enhance the character and appearance of the Knutsford Town Centre Conservation Area, in compliance with planning policies of the Cheshire East Local Plan.

“Its use of materials would blend satisfactorily with those used commonly in the town as required by planning policy of the Cheshire East Local Plan.”

The clinic’s proposed opening hours are 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday.

Planning approval for the change of use is sought from Cheshire East Council, and comments on the plans, reference 19/5095M, can be submitted on the council’s planning portal until December 12.
