LABOUR members have chosen Alsager town councillor Jo Dale to stand in Middlewich's constituency at next month's General Election.

Working mum Jo, who grew up on a council estate in Preston, will run for the Congleton seat in the December 12 poll.

Congleton Labour describes Jo as an experienced community organiser whose children attend local schools that she believes 'should be funded properly and not have to rely on handouts from parents'.

A spokesman for Congleton Labour added: "Jo has worked as a physiotherapist in NHS hospitals, seeing the difference the services makes every day to support people’s recovery, and has worked in children’s centres, seeing first-hand the incredible support that they give to families and watched in dismay as centres have been axed under Tory austerity.

"She also runs her own small sustainable business which is underpinned by environmental and fair-trade principles and organises community events which support our high streets and other small businesses.

Northwich Guardian:

"Raised in a working-class community on a Council estate in Preston, Jo’s early experiences shaped her belief that everyone should be given the opportunity to succeed in life."

Jo will be aiming to unseat Fiona Bruce, Congleton's current Conservative MP.

She said: “This government has decimated our communities, I can offer a real alternative to our Tory MP, who is out of step with people in our constituency.

"I will fight for your vital services to be funded properly, to ensure that people in our communities can access education, healthcare and decent housing.

"I will work determinedly for better job opportunities, vibrant town centres and good public transport links to keep this as an amazing place to live.

"I’ve put all my energy into all kinds of successful campaigns from saving greenbelt land, fighting cuts to bus services, getting sanitary products to women who cannot afford them, animal welfare and more recently the single use plastic free movement.

"As MP for the Congleton constituency, I would work tirelessly for everyone in our community, for the environment and a positive future."
