LINDA Boden has been chosen as Middlewich’s next community mayor.

Linda, a serial fundraiser who has overseen the purchase and installation of dozens of lifesaving defibrillators in the town and beyond, was confirmed as deputy at a town council meeting on Monday.

She will take over as community mayor when inaugural incumbent David Roberts steps down in June.

David sat on the panel who interviewed three candidates.

Linda said: “I am looking forward to representing Middlewich. I love the town and I love the people.

“I would like to start to bring generations together – a lot of older people can bring a lot to our town’s younger people, and vice versa.

“There is no ‘I’ in team, and we have all got to do it together.”

Middlewich Town Council member Helen Watkinson said: “The community mayor is groundbreaking – no other council is doing this. The standard was incredibly high and we are delighted with this appointment.”
