A STORE manager at Farmfoods has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the stomach by a suspected shoplifter.

At 3.45pm today, emergency services were called to Farmfoods in Boundary Road to reports of an altercation between a suspected shoplifter and a store manager, during which the store manager sustained a stab wound to his stomach.

He has been taken to hospital for assessment of his injuries, which are thought to be non-life threatening.

The offender ran from the scene and enquiries are ongoing to locate him.

He is described as a white male around 5ft 8in tall, with dark hair, wearing a grey tracksuit and black trainers.

CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries will be ongoing and officers remain in the area to provide reassurance.
